Where Are You Headed?

Updated: Jan 31, 2021

It has been said that your actions are in direct correlation to your beliefs. Good or bad what you believe will move you. You are always moving toward what you believe to be true. With the new year approaching it is a good time to examine ourselves and what we believe in our heart of hearts. That which we believe in the recesses of our minds where no one else can see. Do you really believe in what you say or in the back of your mind are you saying I believe it can happen I just don’t believe it can happen for me. Are you moving toward what you want or are you secretly sabotaging with negative thoughts and disruptive actions so when it doesn’t happen you won’t be crushed with disappointment?  You see its much less risky to believe small. When you believe big you set yourself up for ridicule but when you believe small you almost always will live that way.

My New Years Prayer for last year 2012 was the Serenity Prayer:

SERENITY PRAYER

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen. “–Reinhold Niebuhr

This past year I have definitely been given the opportunity to make this prayer my own and I have.

By now you probably know I love movies especially those with an inspirational message. All types of movies can inspire. I was watching Evan Almighty and in it a character prayed for her family to be closer. Morgan Freeman who was playing God asked this character (as she was about to give up on this prayer): “Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other? So true.

As this year draws to an end and another set to begin here are a few Lessons Learned (posted 7/15/12 ) this year and in a lifetime of living with the help and guidance of the Lord (and the dates they were posted):

What is very important as this year has shown us time and time again is life is short we must “Live Until We Die” (posted 12/9/12).

It is important to pinpoint our true beliefs because we need to know and God wants to know “Do You Believe Me?” (posted 8/10/12).

If what you believe does not line up with where you want to go “Cut It Out” (10/28/12).

When things don’t work out as planned have “No Regrets” (posted 11/11/12)

Trust that God is God (posted 10/13/12) and know He can turn even what was meant for evil to your good.

We don’t know what this year has in store but this one thing I know for sure God has proven himself faithful and worthy of our trust.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

I believe Him. Even when I struggle, even when things don’t go according to my plan I believe Him. Even when darkness closes in and life can be so overwhelming, I believe Him. When I don’t see the answer, don’t know the answer and can’t hear the answer I believe Him. I believe Him when people don’t make sense, I don’t make sense and this world makes no sense. I believe Him through tears of joy and tears of sadness. I believe when people get me and when they don’t. I believe life goes through cycles and seasons and the only thing that never changes is God. Thank you Jesus for all you are, what you’ve done and for loving us even when we don’t know we need you.

If there is one lonely, misunderstood, confused, lost soul I pray that they feel your love and comfort, your indescribable acceptance and that they believe and give their heart to you, “Today” (posted 10/20/12).

Psalm 67:1-7 KJV

“God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him. “

May the Lord Bless and Keep you and yours in the coming year.

Pray for me as I pray for you.

With Love,

Ms Wanda, GAC
