What Would You Do? If There Was No Tomorrow
Updated: Jan 31, 2021
I was watching Rocky III and there is a scene where ex-fighter Apollo Creed is training Rocky for his upcoming rematch with Clubber Lang. Clubber Lang was a tough, hungry, brutal fighter that wanted what Rocky had….respect, admiration and the title. Clubber fought Rocky and Clubber beat him because at the time Rocky was not in the right frame of mind. Now in this scene, Rocky is trying to prepare for the rematch and is still not in the right frame of mind because he is still reeling from his prior loss, the death of his beloved long time trainer and revelations about that trainer that caused him to doubt himself and his entire career to that point. Apollo, sensing that Rocky is not focused tells Rocky you have got to get focused because this guy will kill you. Rocky says…”Tomorrow..Tomorrow”. Apollo hears this and screams…. “There is no tomorrow!..There is no tomorrow!”
That got me to thinking how many times have we experienced setback after setback, disappointment after disappointment and it leaves us weak and distracted. We find ourselves putting things off until tomorrow when things settle down. But in certain seasons of life it can be one thing after another so it never seems to settle down and you find yourself stuck putting everything off until tomorrow. But what if it’s like Apollo said? What if there is no tomorrow? What if the thing that God has put on your heart was meant to do today? What if the very things you have gone through leave you prime to accomplish what He has for you to accomplish. Your experience may leave you uniquely qualified to get the job done.
So what would you do if you knew there was no tomorrow? Would fear stop you? Would anger? Would sadness? Would you be distracted or paralyzed? Would you sweat the small stuff? Would you get stuck in the disappointments of life? Or would you get real, get focused and get determined? Would you get real clear……on everything. Imagine if there were no tomorrow. What would u do?
Proverbs 27:1 NIV
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
Don’t just go through the motions. LIVE like there is no tomorrow and act on what God has put on your heart to do, today. And then, when and if tomorrow comes you can breathe a little easier, feel a little better, have more joy and spread the wealth.
Take Care,
